January 2015 Diary

January, 2015

It was that time of the year where you have to get used to writing the last digit of the year correctly. Something that really surprised me this month was that an old high school friend of mine is getting engaged!!! If I compared university student to non-university students - I feel like those who aren't students explore exciting paths and make great emotional progress (well, at least the people I know).

I'm writing about January in mid-March so I only really have photos to jog my memory.

 1) It's better to watch the fireworks on tv
 2) There's no point going to watch the fireworks
 3) Every year is the same

These comments have something in common - they're all bogus. The best thing about NYE are the fireworks! When I'm in the middle of a diverse crowd who are all anticipating the bangin' fireworks, I am surrounded by feelings of excitement which it gets me all nervous and smiley. That final minute when I check your phone and it's 11:59 and make sure that everyone in your family are ready to watch is the best. The moment that the first spark ignites and the crowd are all fascinated by the view is even better. For the first few minutes of fireworks, I tear up thinking about how another year has passed and how grateful I am to have what I do. Unfortunately, my dad wasn't able to be with us at the fireworks, nor my older brother who was in Vietnam, nor my little brother who stayed at home -_-, but I'm grateful that my mother, sister and me were there and am grateful that I get to see my family every day.

Hehe we were just re-designing my little brother; Darren's bedroom and discovered the pretty bedding at Country Road. On the right was just a random snap that my sister took of Lu wearing headphones with Hasselmus (that little doll from IKEA).

Proud snap of the painting going on in Darren's room (I fixed all the crooked painting after this).

While looking for photos to frame, I came across a childhood photo I've never seen before. It's actually so crazy looking at childhood photos especially when you don't recall those being taken - I can imagine having photos taken of you when you're drunk feeling like that (but I wouldn't really know). While I was cleaning my own room, I found one of those Japanese photo booth print-outs. Saw that it was about a year ago...holy shit.

Arghhh as I'm typing this, my friend Josefin (with the blonde hair) has already left Australia to go back to Sweden :(. We were meeting up for the "last" time before she went back to Sweden. That day, I only had a tinnyyy little sip of an (alcoholic) drink, and my ears went red. I'm actually a bizarre alien in disguise.

For my dear mother's Birthday, we had Japanese in the City, and then went to Kanzi cafe. Yum - I'm getting midnight hunger thinking about it.

12 days after, Darren turned 18. We had Thai food because he loves spice. So do I - spicy food is my life. I like spicy McWrap, spicy paw paw salad, extra spicy nandos sauce, spicy everything... spice. Getting off topic oh - that day, I went to a Casino for the first time because Dazza wanted to go. Star City casino is hugggeee. At first, I recall Darren losing a lot of money, but my mum won it back (and more).

Had to post this cute picture of my cousin's dog 'Mina' after I showered her. Also had to post the cute picture of our dog, 'Brownie' - Mina's child.

After I thought I saw her for the last time, Josefin invited me to go see the 1975 with her. Honestly, I didn't properly know any of their songs, but these guys are great performers with dedicated fans. The lighting and the concert vibes were realllyy good, but it left me with ringing ears.

Ps, they have fans who look quite grown up and independent - very different from what I saw at Justin Bieber's first official Sydney concert.

Could not go by without posting a photo of our dog Luke (left photo) and the freshly groomed Mina and Snoopy (Mina's other child) on the right.

Going through my camera roll, I saw the photo of these seafood thingies (I don't know what they're called in English :/). Me and my mum had the whole pan-full of it and got a stomach-ache the next day. We swore that we'd never do this again.
We also discovered that some random neighbourhood cat is using our chair at the front of our house. I wanted to pat it but the little nugget ran away grr.

Finally, I had to share a photo of a delicious thing that I made. A link of the recipe is [Here]

I hope you have a great month

:).
